Everyone who comes into this classroom is going to have different experiences with writing. For your first assignment, I’d like you to compare your experiences with writing to your experiences with television. Do you like one more than the other? Do you have a positive experience with either writing or television that you could compare to a positive or negative experience with the other? Do you have any favorite ways to go about writing? Favorite ways to go about watching television?

I don’t expect you to answer all of the above questions, but you can use the questions as a starting point to write your essay, which should be about 500 words.

Place your essay on the course messageboard by 5 PM on Friday, April 2. The messageboard is located at http://www.voy.com/140384/ and is also available from the main course website at http://EnglishOneZeroOne.tripod.com . To post a message, go to the bottom of the page; give your essay a title and place it in the subject line; put in your name and email address in the proper lines; and then place your essay in the section marked, "Type your message here." After you have pressed "Send" you will be asked to verify your message, so be sure to do that. Always go back to the messageboard to make sure your assignment has posted.
