For your next assignment, you will find ONE source related to your research question, which will be the topic you will be exploring all quarter. You will then write a summary of your source that is 175-250 words in length. There is a sample summary on pp. 121-122 of ABW.
You should bring your summary to class on Monday, April 26. Next, you should place your summary on the course messageboard by 5 PM on Wednesday, April 28. After the summaries have been placed on the course messageboard, you should respond to three of your peers' summaries by 5 PM on Friday, April 30. Your responses to the summaries should consider the following questions:
(1) Does the author mention the title and author of the source in the first sentence of the summary?
(2) What is the thesis of the source? (This should be mentioned early in the summary.)
(3) What are the main ideas of the source? Has the author included enough of the key points of the text, and do they appear to be in a logical order?
(4) Does the author stay objective? What sections of the summary are not objective?
(5) What attributive tags does the writer use? Where should the writer use more or different attributive tags?
(6) What problems with spelling, grammar, MLA citation, or fluency can you find?
After you have received online feedback from your peers, you should use the feedback to revise your summary and then email your summary with a PROCESS LETTER (see above) to the instructor by midnight on Monday, May 3. Your summary will be graded based on the same criteria as listed in the peer review questions above.
